The City of Moreno Valley is a general law city. Effective with the November 2016 election, the City Council consists of four Councilmembers, elected by and from a geographical district, and a Mayor elected at large.
The next general municipal election for the City of Moreno Valley will be held on November 5, 2024 for:
- Mayor for a Two-Year Term,
- District 1 Councilmember for a Four-Year Term
- District 3 Councilmember for a Four-Year Term.
Councilmembers serve four-year staggered terms and the Mayor serves a two‑year term.
The nomination period for these offices begins on July 15, 2024 and closes on August 9, 2024.

Nomination papers are only available by appointment from the City Clerk during regular office hours (Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and will be provided in hard copy format.
