City’s After School Program Honored with Think Together’s Champion of Change Award

On Thursday, April 21, the City of Moreno Valley and the Moreno Valley Unified School District were honored with the Champion of Change award from Think Together, California’s largest nonprofit for after-school learning programs.
The prestigious Champion of Change award is given to two exceptional organizations each year. This year, the City and MVUSD were honored for partnering with Think Together to offer after-school and expanded learning programs to over 6,000 Moreno Valley students each year. The City and MVUSD were recognized during the annual Raise a Hand live broadcast event at the Moreno Valley City Council Chamber.
“When we began our work together more than ten years ago, I knew as an educator this partnership had real potential to make a difference in students’ lives,” said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. “There’s no greater investment than the one you can make in the future of our students, and this one has been no exception. It is an invaluable asset for our community.”
“The City of Moreno Valley and the Moreno Valley Unified School District have been incredible partners for providing students with the tools and the opportunities needed to succeed inside and outside the classroom,” said Think Together Founder and CEO Randy Barth. “This partnership has made a game-changing impact in these students’ lives.”
The partnership with Think Together provides after-school and expanded learning programs offering academic enrichment, physical activity, social-emotional learning, and a safe space for children to gather with their peers. These spaces are crucial during a time of the day when many Moreno Valley parents are still working.
These programs did not stop during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the City worked with MVUSD and Think Together to provide programs for students to stay connected with the program as learning moved online.

El programa extraescolar de la ciudad recibe el premio "Campeón del Cambio" de Think Together
-- El jueves 21 de abril, la ciudad de Moreno Valley y el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Moreno Valley fueron honrados con el premio Campeón del Cambio de Think Together. Think Together es la organización sin fines de lucro más grande de California que ofrece programas de aprendizaje después de la escuela.
El prestigioso premio Campeón del Cambio se concede cada año a dos organizaciones excepcionales.
