MoVal Mayor, City Council Approve Plan for New "Teen SPOT"

The Mayor and City Council, at the Oct. 6 regular Council meeting, approved the creation of Teen SPOT (Support, Programs, Opportunities & Technology), a teen-focused after-school space at the City's Conference & Recreation Center.
Teen SPOT will offer fun social/recreational activities, along with participation in supervised programs, including tutoring and homework help, use of a state-of-the-art computer lab, leadership activities and a variety of workshops.
"We want to provide a safe, welcoming and useful place for teens to gather after school where they can access the internet, get schoolwork done and socialize," explained Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "Teen SPOT reflects our commitment to provide positive activities for all residents, especially children and teens."

El Alcalde y el Concejo Municipal, en la reunión ordinaria del Concejo del 6 de octubre, aprobaron la creación de Teen SPOT (Soporte, Programas, Oportunidades y Tecnología), un espacio para después de la escuela enfocado en los adolescentes en el Centro de Conferencias y Recreación de la ciudad.
Teen SPOT ofrecerá divertidas actividades sociales y recreativas, junto con la participación en programas supervisados, que incluyen tutorías y ayuda con las tareas, el uso de un laboratorio de computación de última generación, actividades de liderazgo y una variedad de cursos.
"Queremos proporcionar un lugar seguro, cómodo y útil para que los adolescentes se reúnan después de la escuela, donde puedan acceder a Internet, hacer el trabajo escolar y socializar", explicó el Dr. Yxstian Gutiérrez, Alcalde de Moreno Valley. "Teen SPOT refleja nuestro compromiso de ofrecer actividades positivas para todos los residentes, especialmente para niños y adolescentes".
