Mayor Gutierrez to Allow Residents to Remotely Engage in Meetings

ve Stream Now to Include Remote Public Comments

For immediate release: March 17, 2020

The City of Moreno Valley has long aired City Council meetings live on its MVTV-3 cable channel and via live stream on its website and YouTube channel. Starting Tuesday, March 17, it will allow residents to address the Council from a distance by using Zoom video conferencing software.

While it's being debuted at this Council meeting in response to the coronavirus crisis, Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez said he and the City Council had already been considering the idea.

"I am always looking for ways to make our City government more accessible and inclusive," Gutierrez explained. "This is another step forward toward that goal. While other cities are canceling Council meetings, we are expanding public participation by allowing residents to voice their opinion and participate in City government decisions. I anticipate more public participation.”

Residents can download Zoom software for computers or the mobile app for free. To join tonight’s 6 p.m. Regular Council Meeting, please visit https://zoom.us/, click on Join a Meeting, enter the Meeting ID, 963-117-7849, then run the Zoom launcher.

Once installed, you may choose your audio source as either computer speakers/microphone or telephone.

Residents may also participate in the meeting by Zoom’s telephone call-in feature by calling any of the following numbers:

1-253-215-8782
1-301-715-8592
1-312-626 6799
1-346-248-7799
1-646-558-8656
1-669-900-9128

If you wish you make public comments via telephone, the Mayor will identify you by your area code and last 3 numbers of your telephone number.

If you do not wish to make public comments via the Zoom platform, you may still stream the City Council meeting on MVTV-3, the City’s website at www.moval.org or YouTube
