MVTV-3 wins first national award for Shopping Cart PSA

Moreno Valley's government access cable television channel, MVTV-3, has won its first national award - the "Silver Circle Award" - from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA). The award was for the Shopping Cart Retrieval video public service announcement produced by MVTV-3 last year. Out of a field of about 500 entries from across the country, Moreno Valley's video won second place.

"We are absolutely thrilled to get this award," said Media and Communications Administrator, Angela Rushen. "MVTV-3's producers are a creative and talented group and it is wonderful to see their work recognized at the national level," she said.

The video shows an abandoned shopping cart steering itself through the city in an effort to return itself to a store parking lot. The judges said that Moreno Valley's public service announcement was "funny, simple and well done. The PSA is well conceived and produced. The effect of the shopping cart moving around town on its own is outstanding camera work. Very effective for getting the point across to the public," the judges stated in their written comments.

MVTV-3's Production Coordinator, Steve Jacobs, accepted the award at the 3CMA Awards luncheon in Washington, DC on September 6, 2002.

3CMA was founded in 1988 and is a leading national professional organization for local government communications, marketing, and public information officials.
