MVTV-3 wins three awards at regional conference

Moreno Valley's government access cable television channel, MVTV-3, has won three video programming awards - including a first place prize - at a ceremony sponsored by the States of California and Nevada chapter of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (SCAN NATOA). The city won in every category in which it was nominated. The awards were presented in Universal City, during the association's annual spring conference on Thursday, June 5, 2003.

"We're absolutely thrilled," said Media and Communications Administrator, Angela Rushen. "Several cities throughout California and Nevada are producing outstanding work for their government access channels. It's great to know our peers believe MVTV-3's work is worthy of this recognition," she said.

In the video public service announcement (PSA) category, MVTV-3's 1st Place prize was a 30-second PSA promoting the 2002 July 4 event. Moreno Valley took 2nd Place for its 30-second video PSA "Talk is Cheap," which reminds viewers to register and vote. "Decision 2002," MVTV-3's three-hour local live election coverage from November 2002, took 3rd Place in the Election Coverage category. These awards bring MVTV-3's SCAN NATOA wins to six and the channel's total award count to eight. MVTV-3 has also won awards from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) and the Beacon Foundation.

MVTV-3's production staff includes Rushen, Production Coordinator Steve Jacobs and Audio/Video Technicians Louis Rocha, Jarrod Adams, Dominic Durden, and Dawn Morgan.

SCAN NATOA's membership consists of government access cable television programmers and managers, cable TV franchise regulators, elected officials, telecommunications consultants and lawyers serving local governments.
